December 7th: International Civil Aviation Day

The purpose of the day is to recognize the importance of aviation, especially international air travel, to the social and economic development of the world

Civil Aviation is a part of the national aviation which represents all non-military aviation, private and commercial. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) works with most of the countries to establish standards and recommended practices. Civil Aviation has become a significant part of our lives with an increase in personal and business travels.

Background of International Civil Aviation Day

To raise awareness of the importance of the Civil Aviation Sector, December 7th is observed as International Civil Aviation Day. Since 1994, this day has been celebrated by the ICAO. It was the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. The role of ICAO in helping countries cooperate is unique and this should be known by people. The aim of this day is to recognize the truly rapid transit network at the service of all mankind. 

How to Observe of International Civil Aviation Day

Every five years, the ICAO Council declares a special anniversary theme for the International Civil Aviation Day. A single theme is selected for the four your period. From 2019 to 2023, the theme decided by the council is: ‘Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development’. The next theme will be decided in 2023
