A look at the Oscars 2022 timeline would throw up interesting things. Though the nominations had been listed out already, there is much enthusiasm on who will win. This is simply because the race is hot and so predicting the ultimate winners has become extremely unpredictable.
Competition is so intense in in almost every major category. The Best Picture category is the most unpredictable as the list has some titles that are keenly watched. This unpredictability seems to be high on the Academy’s mind too and so it has now come up with a new category for the 2022 Oscars, and this in fact is a first in its history.
Twitter-voted fan favourites
The Academy has introduced a Twitter-voted fan favourite category, wherein fans can pick their favourites. Starting next week, fans will be able to vote for their favourite films on the social media handle of the Academy. Positioned somewhat as an audience choice category, owing to the high unpredictable nature of the Best Picture category, the fan-choice will be a welcome addition.
Fans will be able to tweet the title of their favourite film along with hashtags – #OscarsFanFavorite and #Sweepstakes. A person can cast only up to 20 votes in a day, and the votes should be for films that came out during the past one year.
That means fans can also vote for their favourite films that haven’t fund their place in the final list outed by the Academy. Fans can submit votes via their Twitter handles and also on the official website of the Academy. When the Academy Awards are announced on March 27, this year, the audience category winners to will be picked.

The Best Picture category in the Academy list has some of the best films of the past year. And they include Don’t Look Up, Dune, Nightmare Alley, Drive My Car, The Power of the Dog, West Side Story, King Richard, Belfast, Licorice Pizza and CODA.
